Right, I suppose I should probably do one of these.
About Me: I'm 21 years old, living in England, and...at present not doing a tremendous amount with my life owing to the inconveniences of other people being incompetent and also my lung periodically springing a leak, which was fun. Either which way, I will hopefully be back at university in about eight months.
Tabletop Experience: I've only been playing RPGs since I got to university (my first university, that is), so just over two years ago. Played an assortment of real-time games and GMd a couple; I think the longest-running one was a 3.PF game set in the Elder Scrolls universe, which had semi-rotating GMs. Since then I've mostly done PbP games, though I've been in a couple of RT games that have collapsed after a couple of sessions and one RT game that hasn't done so yet.
PTU Experience: As a consequence of the above, one of the people in the RPG society played PTU and ran a game of that that I ended up in (mostly by accident). Having never played Pokemon since playing Silver when I was like 12, I was a little out of my depth with all the random new Pokemon, but enjoyed it nonetheless. From there I found the PTf boards.
Me as a Player: I think the most relevant thing I should mention here is that I like keeping to the rules. I don't mind houserules, homebrew and so on (I tend to make quite a lot of my own) but it annoys me when GMs randomly create houserules for no discernible reason. Or, worse, when they realise that they've messed up on a rules decision and excuse it by saying 'oh that's a houserule that it works like that.' (And yes, that has happened to me on more than one occasion.) Also, some of the best roleplay I've been a part of has come about as a consequence of the dice being fickle and us deciding to stick with it rather than ignore the results. In terms of characters, I prefer to play 'good' characters, mostly because I'm really bad at making 'evil' characters seem realistic.
Me as a GM: I've run a few (PbP) games on various sites; Shipwrecked and Therus being two on the old boards that died. Considering Shipwrecked was (I'm fairly sure, anyway) not only my first PbP game, and my first PTU game, as a player but also as a GM...it went surprisingly well, I feel. Therus wasn't much better, being something like my third PbP and PTU game. I think my inexperience with GMing can probably be seen in those two lol. As above, I like to stick to the rules and avoid GM Fiat if possible, though I do do so on occasion. (This is why I like Mutants and Masterminds; it allows you to GM Fiat things at the 'cost' of giving your players hero points so you don't feel like a complete jerk.) I tend to create lots of homebrew and houserules for games I'm running, so expect plenty of custom items and so on if you're in one of my games. I don't tend to use fakemon quite as much, though I will do so occasionally.
